The National Industrial Court in Abuja on Tuesday set aside a decision by President Goodluck Jonathan to fire Bashir Gwandu, an executive commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), stating that the hurried sack did not meet the standard for justice and fairness and the President did not state what Mr. Gwandu did wrong.
President Jonathan had reportedly sacked Gwandu in 2012 a supposed fraudulent sale of telecom bandwidth spectrum that led to the loss of N53 billion in revenues accruable to the government.
According to Sahara Reporters, one of the beneficiaries of the sale was controversial party chieftain and fraudulent businessman, Emeka Offor.
