Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has described as unfair, the continued criminalisation of the Fulani tribe as insurgents in Nigeria, saying that the allegation that Fulani herdsmen were responsible for some terrorist attacks in the country, was one too bogus to be true.

Instead, the governor, who is a Fulani, was of the view that there were persons bent on destroying the strong bond between the Fulani and other tribes, especially the Tivs, for political gains.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Sun in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital at the weekend, Lamido, said he felt deeply hurt by the treatment being given to Fulani herdsmen, who owe the Nigerian government nothing, since they hardly benefit from government’s medical and other social amenities. He said that the Fulani tribe must be cared for and showed love, to make them feel being part and parcel of the country.
