Sports IOC President Thomas Bach hoping the 2022 World Cup does not clash with the Winter Olympics

President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach has said that he hopes the 2022 FIFA World Cup does not clash with the Winter Olympics.

Bach said that he believes FIFA president Sepp Blatter will honour his pledge to ensure that the World Cup will not be held in the same period that their own event will be coming up.

"A clash would be bad for the international audience who would have two major sports programmes broadcast worldwide, so the pubic's attention would be divided," says Bach.

"Also for the sponsors to manage, there are some that are common to FIFA and the IOC. To manage these two kind of programmes at the same time would be very difficult, so in the end there would be no winners."
