Mojtaba Ahmadi, a commander of an Iranian cyber warfare unit, the Revolutionary Guard Cyber War has according to The Telegraph been shot dead by two men on a motorcycle outside the country’s capital.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard – the country’s elite military force – called the death a “horrific incident,” but denied that it was an assassination.
He was last seen leaving his home for work on Saturday and was later found dead outside of Tehran with two bullets in his heart, reports Iranian news site Alborz.
“I could see two bullet wounds on his body and the extent of his injuries indicated that he had been assassinated from a close range with a pistol,” the website quoted a witness.
An investigation into the death is ongoing.
