Israeli war jets on Friday carried out three successive air strikes on various areas in northern, western and southern Gaza city in response to Palestinian rockets firing on Israel, security officials said.
Hamas security officials said that three successive explosions were heard in northern, eastern and southern Gaza city after F16 war planes fired several missiles on various targets in the area.
Medical sources said that rescue teams and ambulances rushed to the targeted areas, adding that eight Palestinian civilians were injured in the southern Gaza town of Rafah.
The sources said that the three targets belonged to Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants in the Gaza Strip.
Report says that unknown militants fired one rocket from Gaza into southern Israel although the rocket caused no damage or fatalities.
The Israeli air strikes on Gaza were an apparent response to the firing of the rockets.
No one claimed responsibility for the rocket attack on southern Israel.
