A 16-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank has been accused by police of stabbing to death an 18-year-old Israeli soldier on a bus in northern Israel.
The soldier died on Wednesday in the hospital after the 16-year-old jumped on him in a bus and stabbed him repeatedly, according to Israeli police.
The youth had come from a village near the Palestinian city of Jenin, in the northern tip of the West Bank, and had infiltrated Israel "illegally.’’
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that the motive for the attack appeared to be "nationalist.’’
Israel Radio reported that the accused told his interrogators that he had killed the soldier to protest against Israel's refusal to grant him entry permits that would allow him to visit relatives jailed in Israeli prisons.(NAN)
