Saturday PUNCH has reported that President Jonathan has called for a discreet investigation to find out how his private phone call to Maj. Gen. Buhari on March 31st (the one where he congratulated Buhari on his election victory) ended up on online news pages.
The president, it is said, was embarrassed by the leaked recording. It will be remembered that ENDS.ng posted the story "Historic Congratulatory Call From President Goodluck Jonathan to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari on March 31, 2015."
A government official said a thorough investigation has begun, and the first step was determining if it was leaked from the Presidency or from General Muhammadu Buhari's camp.
The official said when it is discovered who leaked the phone call, the appropriate punishment would be meted out to the offender.
“Definitely, unauthorised release of a raw recording of the President’s telephone conversation, if from our (Presidency’s) end is a security breach that cannot go without being investigated,” he said.
