Six people are reportedly killed while some policemen have been critically injured by hoodlums in a riot at the Lagos popular perishable market in Mile 12.

Daily Trust reports that Ikorodu road was inaccessible from Ketu at the time of filing this report while trading is said to have been put on hold at the market as a result of the clash although no official confirmation by the police authorities.

According to reports, a detachment of soldiers have arrived at the market to restore peace while the market has been closed.

A trader at the market, Mrs. Anike Olota told Daily Trust in a telephone conversation that a commercial motorcyclist who is believed to be from the north injured a Yoruba boy in an accident at Agiliti area of Mile 12.

This is said to have degenerated into what appears to be a communal clash between Yorubas and Hausas who have remained rivals over control of the market.

She said a school in the area has been razed down.
