The students of the Lagos State University (LASU) on Friday urged the Pro-Chancellor, Mr Olabode Augusto, to intensify efforts at reducing the high tuition fees of the university.
The students, who made the demand at a meeting with the institution’s Governing Council in Lagos, requested that the tuition fees be reduced by at least 60 per cent.
"If it is not possible to go back to N25, 000, it will be reasonable for us to pay between N50, 000 and 100,000, but paying between N198, 000 and N350,000 will be outrageous,’’ the students said.
Mr Augusto said that promoting academic
excellence, peace and improving the welfare of students were the priorities of the council.
He said the council had noted the complaints of the students and was committed to tackling all the issues.
