The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has said that he would continue to preserve the unity of the country.

He said this while speaking as the Special Guest of Honor at the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Dutse’s closing ceremony.

He said that contrary to the belief of most people, breaking up the country wasn’t the best for the nation. He emphasized that being “united, [is] the better [option] for us as a people,” he said.

He noted that southern Sudan, which broke up from Sudan was currently in crisis and that Nigerians should learn a lesson from them.
