Spokesperson for Liberia's Bureau of Immigration and Naturalisation (BIN) Abraham Dolley on Tuesday in Monrovia the bureau plans to deport 31 Ghanaians for illegal entry into the country on Oct. 15, via the Atlantic Ocean from Ghanaian waters.
The 31 Ghanaians, which includes 27 men, seven women and three children, were occupants of a strange fishing boat arrested on the Robertsport beach in Grand Cape Mount in the western part of Liberia, Dolley said.
The bureau has declared all the 31 persons aboard the vessel illegal immigrants and contacts had been made by the government of Liberia with the Ghanaian Embassy in Monrovia for their deportation, the spokesperson said.
Although none of the illegal immigrants had any travelling documents, like the ECOWAS passport, identification or legal sea faring document from the Liberian Maritime Authority (LIMA), investigation by the bureau had established that they were all Ghanians, Dolley said.
Dolley also said all the illegal immigrants were currently in custody in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, pending the deportation. (Xinhua/NAN)
