World Libya Deports 172 Nigerians For Immigration Offences

More than 172 Nigerian deportees arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) from Libya on Friday.

According to DailyTrust, they consist of 166 male and six female deportees who were dropped off at the Hajj camp area of the airport around 7:00 am. They were conveyed in a chartered aircraft from Libya.

It was gathered that the deportees were received on arrival by various government agencies including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Police, The National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP), among others who screened the deportees to confirm their nationalities.

Spokesman of the NIS, Mr. Ekpedeme King said the deportees were returned to the country for immigration related offences.

He said, “What I can tell you is that some Nigerians were deported for immigration offences. Most of those brought overstayed in Libya".
