Entertainment Linda Ikeji, Omo Akin Risk Arrest, Prosecution Over Omu Resort Controversy

Celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji and Nigerian singer, Omo Akin presently risk being arrested by the Nigerian Police Force and prosecuted by Omu Resort based in Lagos a few days after Omo Akin allegedly released images and a statement claiming he had been savagely attacked by wild animals at the resort.

What began with a claim by Nigerian singer, Omo Akin of being brutally attacked by wild animals at Omu Resort in Lagos and being hospitalised at Pennisula Hospital in Lagos has degenerated into a full blown controversy with Omu Resort releasing a statement where it presented evidences to show that no one was attacked at the resort and to prove that the singer was never admitted in Pennisula Hospital as earlier claimed.

However, there is an update on this and all three parties involved have taken steps to ensure that justice is served or avoid being arrested and prosecuted depending on the side of the fence the party involved stands.

Linda Ikeji, one of the bloggers to report the alleged attack on Omo Akin by animals at the resort has removed the only evidence linking her to the controversy. A visit to her blog showed that she had deleted the post titled: 'Omo Resort Denies Omo Akin was Injured' with the link: http://lindaikeji.blogspot.com/2014/11/omu-resort-denies-omoakin-was-injured.html

Also deleted from the blog as at the time of writing this was the story titled: '(Photos) Music Artiste Omo Akin Injured' with the link: http://lindaikeji.blogspot.com/2014/11/photos-music-artist-omoakin-injured-by.html

Linda has tendered no official reaction but deleting the posts on Omo Akin is a strong indication that it wasn't coincidental.

Below is the official statement from the resort:

This story is COMPLETELY FALSE AND CAN NEVER BE SUBSTANTIATED.
Our staff are currently en route the Pennisula Hospital to meet with the gentleman in question as well as hospital representatives. We shall update you on the results of the meeting as well as further developments. (They later called LIB to say OmoAkin wasn’t at the hospital and gave us an MD’s number to confirm from) Knowing this is an attempt at cheap publicity (based on a COMPLETE FALSEHOOD), we have this morning instructed our lawyers to sue the said gentleman for damages. A copy will be forwarded to your offices.
Succinctly put, Omu Resort has been in operation for 10 months and has recorded well over 500,000 visitors to date. No such incident has EVER occurred in our premises. We shall take steps to ensure that this gentleman is put to the strictest proof of this blatant falsehood.
Just yesterday, we had over 200 visitors – all of whom are alive and can be reached for verification purposes. As a matter of fact, some visitors held a birthday party at the resort yesterday. The lead person anchoring the birthday can be reached on 08020667848 for verification of the activities that took place at the resort yesterday. They will confirm that this story is A BIG LIE.
Another visitor (a father who had a party for his child) to the site yesterday whose group was 14 strong can be reached on 07064019064 for confirmation.
We also note that the chair used by the said Omo Akin are not the type we stock at the resort. ALL OUR CHAIRS ARE ARMLESS.
We attach pictures of our resort that as at today, seen a verifiable investment of well over N1 billion. Please visit the resort yourself and feel free to reach me on 08033059703.

Meanwhile, Omo Akin's management, Star Nation has released another statement where it stated that it had nothing to do with the initial claim of attack on the artiste by animals at Omu Resort
Read the latest statement below:

To Whom It May Concern
Our attention has been drawn to the post making rounds social media relating to our Artiste “OmoAkin” in regards to him being attacked by some wild animals in a reputable Resort in Nigeria.
We will like to point out that nothing of such happened and in fact the pictures circulating with the post was taken from an Halloween themed set on the scene of the video shoot to his recently released single “IJO OLOTI”.
We have spoken to the management of the resort in question to straighten things up. We will also like to state categorically that such news was not released from our camp (Star Nation).
We urge everyone to please disregard such news and focus on the good music from our artiste and label. Anticipate the video to the Smash hit single “IJO OLOTI”.
N.B: Any news or statement in regards to our artiste will be released Officially.

In it's latest reaction, Omu Resort remains bent on getting to the bottom of the controversy as it clearly states that it will not risk its billion Naira investment over what many have tagged a candid case of publicity gone wrong.

Below is the latest statement from Omu Resort:

“We at Omu resort have already denied that any such incident took place. Following the said denial, the management of OmoAkin, Star Nation, have also made contact with us directly saying that they also did not release the story and indeed the pictures been circulated are Halloween pictures from the video shoot as we have seen and not from the resort.
That said, we are at a loss as to how such stories that are capable of destroying a multi-billion Naira business such as the resort and the career of a budding artiste, OmoAkin, came about. The source of this story and the reasons behind publishing such must be thoroughly investigated by the Nigeria Police force because it’s purely criminal. As early stated, our lawyers are working closely with the Police and we are working to get to the bottom of where the story emanated from.
For all those that are peddling innuendos that the resort might have used this as a publicity stunt, who in their right mind would risk a multi-billion naira business on such cheap publicity? As indicated, the Police is investigating the matter and arrests are been made as we speak.”
