The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, at the end of its recent meeting issued a circular which attributed the slowdown in Nigeria's economy to the following reasons:
According to the circular, these issues which aren't new have been plaguing the country for a while and continued in the first quarter of 2016.
- uncertainty around fiscal policy,
- adverse external environment,
- security challenges in some parts of the country affecting production and distribution of agricultural produce,
- low electricity supply,
- fuel shortages,
- sluggish growth in credit to 15 the private sector
According to the circular, these issues which aren't new have been plaguing the country for a while and continued in the first quarter of 2016.
