Iranian intelligence authorities have arrested a man on charges of spying on Iran for Britain's MI6.

According to the head of the Kerman region's revolutionary court, Dadkhoda Salari, on Saturday, the suspect made contact with British agents 11 times in recent months, both in and out of the country.

The suspect have admitted his guilt and will stand trial for espionage soon.

A spokeswoman for the Britain's Foreign Office said: "We don't comment on intelligence matters."

The unverified report comes at a time when Britain and Iran are taking steps to restore diplomatic relations that were broken off after activists stormed the British embassy in Iran in November 2011.
