A man has decapitated his wife with an axe and wandered the streets carrying her severed head afterwards, security authorities say.
According to Sky News, the grisly scene in the country's western city of Pune, which lies around 100 miles from Mumbai, was captured on a mobile phone and published online.
Ramachandra Chavan, 60, was seen holding the head in one hand and an axe in the other, apparently unaware of the horrified reactions of people around him.
Two police officers chase after him as bystanders looked on. He was eventually arrested and the woman's head covered with a cloth.
Investigators believe Chavan, who worked as a security guard, killed his 55-year-old wife, Sonabai, with the axe because he thought she was having an affair with a relative.
