A research by the CIES Football Observatory has revealed that Manchester United’s current squad is the most expensive ever assembled, at a total of €718 million (£628m).
The study took into consideration the transfer fees paid to assemble the current squads from Europe’s top five leagues.
United brought in Paul Pogba at a world-record fee of £89million , along with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also joined as a free agent.
Their arrivals mean the Red Devils’ squad is €185m more expensive than it was last season.
