A chieftain of the PDP and director of media and publicity of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode is set to receive his judgment today on his lingering case of alleged money laundering, Channels TV reports.

Today's date had been fixed by the trial judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia last month when counsels to Fani-Kayode and the EFCC adopted their final written addresses.

Fani-Kayode is facing the court on a two-count charge of money laundering of the sum of 2.1 million Naira levied against him by the EFCC. This was during the time he was serving as Minster of Aviation and then Minister of Culture and Tourism. The EFCC specifically accused Fani-Kayode of conducting financial transactions exceeding N500,000 without going through any financial institution. Meanwhile, Fani-Kayode has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Fani-Kayode was originally facing a 40-count charge, but the trial judge struck out 38 last November. However, the judge said, Mr. Fani-Kayode would need to prove his innocence in respect of the two counts for which judgment would be given on Thursday.
