Here's a flashback to what Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe, said in 1980 in an interview with the BBC. According to him, no coup will be allowed to overthrow the Zimbabwean government.

“I am a prime minister of my country and I intend to rule that country with firmness. I’m not going to have anybody advocate the overthrowing of a government, and remain in the country,” he had said.

Robert Mugabe is known for his tenacity for holding on to power.

Despite aging 98 years, Mugabe has refused to step down. Last year, he said only death could part him and the presidency. Recently, the president declared he was "not dying" and will not step down from power.

Yesterday, a sort of military coup confined Mugabe and his family to his apartment while the army took control over the affairs of the country. His wife Grace, though, is out of the country.
