Following the ban on citizens from seven muslim-majority countries by the Unites States, Son of American Boxing Legend, Mohammed Ali was detained by immigration officials at a Florida airport last weekend.

Ali Jr. an American citizen who was travelling from Jamaica to the US with his mother Khalilah, on February 7 after speaking at a Black History Month event, when he was detained by the officials at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

“I was standing in line and letting Muhammad go through immigration ahead of me because he has bad knees and was using a wheelchair,” his mother Khalilah told Radar Online

While Khalilah was not questioned by the officials after she showed pictures of herself with her husband, Ali Jr did not have any such thing at the time to prove who he was.

The 44-year-old was illegally detained for two hours by the officials who quizzed him on his religious identity.

“He was very shaken up about it. He has never been treated like this before. He didn’t know what was going on, and asked [immigration], ‘Why are you doing this? My father is Muhammad Ali’ and they just didn’t seem to give a crap,” Ali's family friend and attorney Chris Mancini told RT.

Mancini said officials quizzed Ali Jr repeatedly with questions "Where did you get your name from?" and "Are you Muslim?"

When Ali Jr. responded that he was a Muslim, the officers kept questioning him about his religion and where he was born. Ali Jr is a US citizen born in Philadelphia and has no track of criminal record.

Ali Jr. who inherited a large share of his father's wealth after the death of the boxing legend last year currently lives in Deerfield Beach with his mother.
