Business NAFDAC Seals Chocolate Royale, Evacuates Expired Products Worth N1 Billion Naira

According to a report in VANGUARD newspaper, authorities of NAFDAC have sealed off a Lagos-based confectionery and multinational food outlet, Chocolate Royal over various charges ranging from poor hygiene, illegal importation and circulation of expired products. The agency also evacuated expired items worth N1 billion naira from the company.

It was gathered that the outlet was sealed following an intelligence report that the company had been engaging in activities that are non-adherent to good manufacturing and hygienic practices. It was disclosed by the Director of Investigation and Enforcement of NAFDAC, Mr Kingsley Ejiofor that some of the top officials of the company were obstructing the operatives of the agency during the operation. Six of them have been arrested and would be investigated and prosecuted.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii has inspected the seized product and he assured Nigerians that matter would be properly investigated.

Chocolate Royale is a subsidiary of AIM Group which belong to Mr Amin Mousssalli, a Lebanese business mogul. He is said to own several media houses including; Cool Fm, Nigerian Info FM, Cool TV, Wazobia TV etc.
