Elections have started in some parts of Nigeria but the focus rests solely on the two major presidential candidates -President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who is seeking re-election and Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC who is running for the fourth time.
There are 1,537 candidates from 28 political parties vieing for 469 seats in the National Assembly in Saturday’s national elections. 747 are contesting elections for the 109 seats in the Senate and 1,790 are contesting for the 360 seats in the House of Representatives.
Among the Senatorial candidates are 126 women and 621 men, while 254 women are among those contesting to be members of the House of Representatives.
