Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah has suggested that resolutions of the planned National Dialogue should be adopted by the National Assembly to replace the existing constitution.

The former governor made this suggestion on Wednesday at the Interactive Session and Submission of Memorandum to the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue and the FCT Administration in Abuja.

Attah said that the National Dialogue would be irrelevant to Nigerians if the 1999 Constitution was still in force. He stated that since the 1999 Constitution was a creation of a Decree, it would have to be invalidated for the proposals made from a National Dialogue to be meaningful and legal.

"The expectations of Nigerians are very high. Any failure will be highly disappointing", the former governor added. (NAN)
