Business National Economic Team: Osinbajo Reveals President Buhari’s 6-Point Agenda

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday gave some insights to the constitution and modus operandi of the National Economic Management Team (NEMT) under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, the Vice President said that the private sector players will not be members of the team.

He also highlighted the six themes around which the economy is defined. They are:

1. Policy, governance and security including ensuring a stable and predictable currency exchange rate and securing the nation.

2. The second is diversification which includes achieving targeted self-sufficiency in agriculture produce and increasing private sector investments.

3. The third is infrastructure development which includes the completion of several NIPPs, the Lagos -Calabar coastal railway, among others.

4. Oil and gas reform is the fourth one and it includes privatisation of refineries and ensuring gas availability to power the plants.

5. The ease of doing business is the fifth.

6. The last is the social investment meant to assuage unemployment pains, development of human capacity, improve school enrolment,” he said.
