The President of The Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Augustine Alegeh (SAN) has backed the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President, saying the process followed house rules.

An online media, GBAM.TV reports that the NBA president said that the 57 senators that were in the chamber when the election of Saraki took place were enough to form a quorum and the decision taken is binding on the Senate.

According to him, the APC had enough time between the March/April general election and the time of the inauguration of the National Assembly to sort and agree on all the issues. Therefore, the unpreparedness of APC should not have delayed the activities of the assembly which has elected members from other parties as well.
He said the inauguration of the national assembly is an ordinary issue and it requires only 1/3 of the members to form a quorum. He therefore said that the emergence of Saraki against the wish of APC is not a legal issue but a moral issue.
