The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of the Ebonyi State Command has reportedly apprehended no fewer than suspected drug traffickers, and secured at least 20 convictions for drug related offences in the year 2013 alone.

About 450 kilogrammes of hard drugs were also reported to have been seized, according to Mr. Raphael Igwenagu, the Commander of the NDLEA Command stationed in Ebonyi State.

He also expressed concern over the increased number of female traffickers, saying, “Ebonyi state women are top of the list of drug dealers in the state and this cuts across all age groups, particularly between the ages of 20 to 50 years.”

He also stated that the smoking of marijuana is seen as the major drug related crime conducted by residents of the state.
