Nigeria - Minister of power, Prof Chinedu Nebo, yesterday blamed the recent worsening of the nation's power supply on inadequate availability of gas, Leadership reports.
He revealed that the power situation dropped in the country by about 1,700 mega watts (mws) over the last couple of days, explaining that the nearest reference point, according to the daily broadcast from Osogbo, is the drastic drop of power generation from 4,500 as at April 4, to 2,800 as at yesterday, April 30, 2015.
“Vandalism is presently a cartel business that has taken international dimension, hence the need for us to collaborate so as to effectively stamp out the devastating menace.”
He further stressed the need for government to provide social security by way of mobilising security agencies tasked with the tedious job with advanced technology and advised stakeholders to install internal gadgets at the various points of call to check in house saboteurs.
“The problem we face require complimentary and collaborative efforts. The stakeholders need to find a way out of the problem and as well make public their findings and successes.”
