In commemoration of the 53rd Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of Osun State has freed six in mates presently serving their jail terms at the Federal Prison, Ilesa and the Medium Security Prison Ile – Ife.
According to OSUN DEFENDERS, the Governors action is also based on the recommendation of the State Advisory Council for the prerogative of mercy, Governor of the State Of Osun.
The six inmates who were released are : Sunday Uzor, Tope Dada, Bukola Babalola, Stephen Enemune, Olorunwa Abiodun and Tunde Alade.
Section 212(1)(a) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria grants the Governor the privilege to release prisoners.
