President Barack Obama has congratulated Nigeria on her 53rd year anniversary today.
This was contained in a statement signed by John Kerry, US Secretary of State, yesterday. The statement was released to the US embassy in Abuja, and it reads: “On behalf of the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Nigeria as you celebrate your Independence Day on October 1.”
Barack Obama, in the statement, added that “a warm friendship connects the Nigerian and American people, reflecting our shared values of Democracy, economic growth, security and respect for human rights and the rule of law.”
President Vladimir Putin of Russia also released a congratulatory message yesterday to Nigeria through the Russian Embassy in Abuja.
