According to reports, the Nigerian military today launched an operation in which #Damboa town in #Borno was recaptured back from Boko Haram insurgents.
Excerpt from Sahara Reporters:
A few hours after Boko Haram sacked Gwoza, a town in Borno State near the border with Cameroon, a special Nigerian army unit of the 25 Tank Battalion today recaptured the town of Damboa from the Islamist insurgents.
A senior military source told SaharaReporters that troops today retook Damboa after a fierce battle in which soldiers killed several Boko Haram militants.
According to our source, “our soldiers circled Damboa and engaged the terrorists in a serious battle. We have now recaptured Damboa after defeating the resistance of Boko Haram militants in the township.”
