Prof. Chinedu Nebo, the Minister of Power, in a statement in Abuja on Friday charged stakeholders in the power sector to work together to ensure that the power situation in the country improved.
The minister charged stakeholders to regard issues around power supply as national emergency which deserved all patriotic instincts in the provision of workable solutions.
He also decried the vandalism of gas pipelines, noting that enormous resources and time were involved in the repair of the pipelines due to the difficult terrains.
"We have the capacity to now generate over 6,000MW, but sadly, we now produce a little over 4,000MW. This is not the case in other climes.
"We want the economy to be revamped, this magic can only be made manifest if we are able to produce enough power that will drive a double digit growth.”
He also said that significant improvement of 50 per cent had been achieved in gas flaring trajectory.
