Men of the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday raided a suspected gay wedding ceremony in Sokoto city, sending guests fleeing in different directions.
According to Police Spokesman Almustafa Sani, the police acted after it received a tip off about the event.
He added that the police were conducting a thorough investigating with a view to charge the two people arrested for being involved in “unnatural” conduct.
Homosexuality is illegal under Nigeria’s secular constitution, and Islamic law which is applied in Sokoto state, he said.
