Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari's aides yesterday explained why the president-elect is yet to make his asset declaration public, Vanguard reports.
They said he will make his assets known to Nigerians within the first 100 days of his stay in power in line with his assertions before the election.

This follows calls from a civil rights group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, for the President and VP Yemi Osinbajo to make public their assets.
It said the action will indicate “their desire and commitment to ending corruption in the country.”

However it is believed that public officials, after filling the asset declaration form, submit it to the Code of Conduct Bureau for verification.
Research is then made into the information provided on the form for a period of 30 days after which it might be declared public.
One can also personally get it by invoking the FOI bill.
However one can't but wonder why a simple photocopy of the form isn't made available to any media house to quell public curiosity.
