The Nigerian Army yesterday said troops on Operation Lafiya Dole recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition at Garsum in Borno State at the weekend.
A statement from army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, said following a tip-off, troops on clearance patrol at Borgozo-Alargano discovered the arms concealed by Boko Haram militants.
The troops discovered a large cache of arms and ammunition that include 36 boxes of .51mm calibre, 5 x 20 Lyra beefcake mixture of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, large quantity of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and one 81mm mortar tube,” he added.
