Academic activities were suspended at Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe following a violent protest staged by students of the college.

The students started the protest last night over alleged lingering water scarcity that hit the school.

They destroyed windows, offices and other properties which value is not yet ascertain.

The students also went to private residents of the college's provost and registrar located outside the school premises, where they destroyed some electrical appliances before they were dispersed by police.

Gombe state Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Usman confirmed the incident. He said the command has made arrest and investigation is still ongoing.

Provost of the college, Dr. Adamu Gimba Abbas, said the college will remain closed pending investigation into the incident.
