Despite the rough seas and the unfavorable conditions, Malta-based foundation, Migrant Offshore Aid Station managed to safely rescue 146 African migrants from an overcrowded rubber boat.
Among them were 16 women, two of whom are pregnant, a child, and 27 unaccompanied minors. Most of the people rescued were coming from Nigeria and other West African countries.
"The worsening conditions of the sea seem not to be stopping desperate people from attempting the dangerous crossing" the agency said.
