Seven days ago Lagosians woke up to the news that fast-food outlet KFC will be shutting down its operations in Nigeria's commercial capital.
As a result, KFC Outlets in popular areas such as Ilupeju, Sabo, Ikeja, Ogba and other parts of Lagos metropolis will effectively close with residents unable to buy food
KFC say they will only leave KFC shops located in shopping malls.
Why did KFC shut down? The firm attributed low patronage and high cost of power for its actions but here's what Nigerians are suggesting:
1. They expanded too early too quickly.
"When KFC was spreading like wildfires, I wondered if they were executing a well researched & developed business case or spreading wt d hope of shaping our taste. Alas, the strategy hasn't fully worked out," - @detunjiprimo via Twitter
2. They didn't serve local dishes like eba, rice and beans, etc. -
