The Federal High Court, Lagos has been told by the witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mohammed Shehu, that the board of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) held the responsible for awarding contracts until a tenders’ board was set up at the ongoing trial of the former Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Raymond Omatseye.

Shehu is the Acting Director of Procurement at NIMASA and said, “Based on the recommendations of the technical staff, I always endorsed the contracts because they fall within his (Omatseye’s) threshold.”

Omatseye’s approved threshold was reportedly at N2.5 million for goods, and N5 million for works.
