Disturbed by the spate of reported cases of HIV/AIDS, the Emir of Dutse, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, has said, henceforth, couples living in his emirate must undergo test before marriage.
The Emir made the declaration yesterday in his Sallah, Eid el-Kabir, message to the people of his domain, noting that reports indicated that the menace was spreading and causing panic and suspicion among couples.
His words: “As from today, no couple can be joined together as husband and wife until they go for tests and are presented with medical certificate and confirmed negative before an Imam can officiate their marriage in this emirate.”
