Metro NSCDC Recovers 2,500 Sachets of alleged Hard Drugs in Jigawa

The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Tuesday in Dutse that it arrested a 35-year-old man with 2,500 sachets of hard drugs.

The Commandant, Mr Muhammad Gidado, said that the suspect was arrested in Gujungu town, in Taura Local Government Area of the state.

Gidado said the suspect was arrested at about 6.00 p.m. on Monday with two brief cases containing 1,000 packets of D5 tablet (200mg), 1,000 packets of Diazepam tablet (10mg) and 500 packets of Exol tablet (100mg).

He was arrested while distributing the drugs to his agents, and described him as one of the major dealers in hard drugs in the area. The suspect would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

He said that NSCDC operatives had trailed the suspect since December, adding that he had previously escaped arrest seven times.

The commandant reiterated the resolved of the command to make Jigawa a drug-free state, and advised youths in the state to shun drug abuse and other vices.
