The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) on Wednesday advised the Federal Government against the planned sale of the nation’s refineries.
The Lagos Zonal Chairman of NUPENG, Mr Tokunbo Korodo gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
“The government should not sell the refineries, rather they should bring in those who first built the refineries for repairs and returned them to their original status,” he said.
He said that government should always ensure that the turnaround maintenance of the refineries was done by those with the technical know how.
He also advised the National Assembly to enact laws that would be favourable to the Nigerian workers.
