Justice Ambrose Mammali, acting Chief Judge (CJ) of Adamawa state yesterday swore in the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as acting Governor of the state.
However, THIS DAY claims that that the process was illegal as Mammali’s tenure as acting CJ of the state had elapsed on June 8. Although as soon as his tenure elapsed, the Nigerian Judicial Commission (NJC) confirmed him as the CJ of the state, but the confirmation had not received the endorsement of Governor Murtala Nyako, the final authority in the appointment of a state’s CJ, before he was impeached yesterday.
Also there is also the issue of the Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari's resignation whose letter was supposed to be submitted to Nyako and not the state assembly.
