WASHINGTON (AFP) - President Barack Obama is pleased with the deal arrived at on Saturday to remove all chemical weaponry from Syria, but has said that a lot more needs to be done and Damascus has to agree with the agreement.

In his recorded statement, the President said that if President Bashar al-Assad doesn’t hold up his end of the agreement reached with Russia, “the United States remains prepared to act.”

The new agreement GIVES Syria one week to provide information regarding their weapons stockpiles, and also states that Syria must give international inspectors unrestricted access to the stockpiles with the goal of removing them before mid next year.
