Sports Okagbare breaks record at the Athletics championship in Calabar

Blessing Okagbare on Thursday became the second woman in history to win six consecutive 100m titles at the All Nigerian Athletics championship.

Not only has she won six titles,Okagbare equally recorded the fastest time ever in the championship,winning in a record time of 11.06 seconds.

Okagbare has now moved level on titles with Mary Onyali-Omagbemi as the only two people to have won six successive titles.

Gloria Asumnu trailed in second position after finishing the race in a time of 11.17secs while Sule Justina came in third with 11.63 seconds.

The Athletics championship kicked off on Thursday at the UJ Esuene Stadium with other events equally held at the national championship.

Meanwhile the Men's 100m semifinals and finals will take place on Friday with Obinna Metu and Ogho-Oghene Egwero expected to battle for the top prize.
