The Osun state Government has issued a statement denying claims by Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate in the recently concluded elections that Deputy Governor, Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori was arrested for carrying ammunition.

The statement which was issued by the chief press secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Tope Ademakinwa, said, "In the interview, Omisore, in a desperate bid to grab political power at all cost, connived with himself, and concocted a lie of a ‘phantom’ arrest of the Deputy Governor of the state of Osun, Iyaafin Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, by the officers of the Nigeria Police for carrying ammunitions and N20million on election day.

"In Mr Iyiola Omisore’s little mind, this lie is supposed to cause confusion and disaffection against the person of the deputy governor, Grace Laoye-Tomori, but alas!, the mission failed, and miserably so.

"To put the records straight; the deputy governor, Iyaafin Laoye-Tomori never distributed money or carried any ammunition at any time, and so, was never arrested. Instead, scores of APC stalwarts, members of the House of Representative and aides to both the deputy governor and Mr Governor were arrested and detained by the police, claiming ‘order from above’.

"The deputy governor was contacted that her personal assistant was arrested and she went to the office of the commissioner of police for the state to secure the release of all the politicians arrested including her P.A.”

"The Deputy Governor “is a woman of honour and integrity, respected by all”, the statement said that the “mischievous interview represents an all-time low in the annals of Mr Omisore’s political misadventure",the statement added.
