An Osogbo Magistrates' Court on Friday sentenced a 24-year-old man, Hammed Sanusi, to nine months imprisonment for maliciously damaging three doors in his mother's house.

The Magistrate, Mrs Ademola Olowolagba, convicted Sanusi after he pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Olowolagba did not give the convict an option of fine.

The prosecutor, Insp Solomon Oladele , had told the court that the convict committed the offence on Tuesday at about 11 p.m. at No 3, Ifelodun street, Odi Olowo, Osogbo.

Oladele said that the convict came home drunk and forcefully damaged the doors in the house because those at home failed to open the door for him.

He said when the convict broke in, he threatened his mother and his siblings with a knife.

He said the convict’s mother, Funke Sanusi, had lodged a report at the police station in Odi Olowo, Osogbo.

The value of the damaged doors was put at N30,000.

Oladele said the offence contravened the provisions of section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.

The convict, who had no counsel, pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
