The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Wednesday, took over the party's national leadership and called on party faithfuls to apologise to God and Nigerians for abusing the power given the party from 1999 to 2015.

This followed the prolonged leadership tussle and the re-opening of the party's national secretariat ‎on Tuesday, by the Police, after sealing it for nine days due to the leadership crisis rocking the party.

According to DailyTrust, the BoT members, who arrived at the PDP national secretariat, Abuja, by ‎12: 29 pm, went straight to the National Executive Committee (NEC) hall where they held a meeting with the secretariat staff on latest developments in the party.

Addressing the staff, BoT chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the BoT remained the only legal organ to run the party until its leadership crisis is resolved.
