Vice President Namadi Sambo has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will reclaim Ekiti and Osun in the forthcoming governorship election slated for June 21 and Aug. 9, respectively.

He made this known at the inauguration of the National Campaign Committee for the two states in Abuja on Wednesday.

The committee, which was inaugurated by Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, the PDP National Chairman is comprised of 34 and 42 members, respectively.

The vice president, who heads the two committees for the two states, said that PDP would reclaim the entire South-West in the 2015 general elections.

He maintained that Ekiti and Osun were PDP states, but were somehow stolen from the party by the opposition.

Sambo, who spoke on behalf of members of the committee, assured that the principle of one man one vote, and transparent election would be observed in the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

He said that the committee would do everything possible to ensure that it delivered Ekiti and Osun to PDP, adding that party would surely succeed.

"By inaugurating us today, we will go to the war front and bring back our stolen mandate. Everybody knows that Ekiti belongs to PDP but people used different ways to take it from us. Osun is PDP state but it was stolen from us.

"The end of stealing has come. There will be free and fair election,’’ the vice president assured.

Sambo commended the PDP national chairman of for providing an environment conducive for the conduct of free, fair and transparent primaries in both states.

He said the primaries brought back Ayo Fayose, whom he described, as a grassroots politician who would bring back sanity to Ekiti as the party`s candidate for the state.

He, however, called on the party’s candidates for the elections in both states to ensure that all party members were carried along.

This, he added, was critical to ensure that the plan to bring back PDP government in the two states succeeded.

Earlier, Mu’ azu while inaugurating the committee, described it as the highest level campaign committee of the party.

He urged the committee members to put up good campaign programmes and strategies for the general elections and for the specific states.

The PDP national chairman said that the party would be successful at the polls if campaign programmes were well articulated and implemented.

He also urged the committee to set up campaign teams which must engage in vigorous campaigns across the states.

Mu’ azu also called for reconciliation of aggrieved party members and the inclusion of all stakeholders of the party in both states in the campaign processes.

The PDP national chairman congratulated the vice president and the committee members, adding that their sacrifice to serve on short notice was appreciated by the party leadership.

In his contribution, Mr Ayo Fayose, PDP candidate for the Ekiti governorship election, thanked the party leadership for allowing transparency to reign during the state`s primaries election.

He described the forthcoming election in Ekiti and Osun as "game changers", adding that it would be the beginning of change of power in South-West. He also assured the party`s national leadership that Ekiti would give them "pleasant embarrassment with crowd" anytime they visited the state for campaign.

Other members of the committee, include senate president, deputy speaker, all ministers from the South-West and former speakers. The PDP National Legal Adviser, Mr Victor Kwom, would serve as Secretary of the committee for both states.
