Vanguard News reports that Enugu-based veteran actor, Pete Edochie, has called on the federal government to sponsor a movie about the cruel activities of Boko Haram in the country.
According to the report, the popular actor who came into limelight after playing the lead actor, Okonkwo, in Chinua Achebe’s novel turned-serial-movie, ‘Things Fall Apart’ said “We want the government to sponsor a huge film on Boko-Haram. Boko-Haram insurgence claims they want to establish an Islamic caliphate.
I don’t think there’s any God that would want to enjoin his followers to be decapitating heads, killing people, No! I think that’s a wrong interpretation of Islam.
I would want my friends from the northern part of the country where Islam is the main religion and west where Islam also thrives to help us in defining the religion so that if we embark on producing a film on Boko Haram we shall make no mistake.
And I believe that the incumbent administration will sponsor the production.
There has always been a truce and for us to effect a change and cultivate harmonious relationship among various religious bodies, there has to be a film on Boko-Haram to show that people have been indoctrinated negatively.”
Do you think a government sponsored movie about Boko Haram can stop the terrorist group from killing and committing other bestial crimes?
