World Piper PA-46 plane passenger falls to death off Miami - news.com.au

An investigation is under way after a passenger in a small plane apparently plunged 600 metres to his death.

The man is believed to have fallen into the ocean three kilometres off Florida, southeast of Miami, around 1:30pm local time Thursday.

The pilot of the six-person Piper PA-46 said the man opened the door then fell. He issued a distress call which sent rescuers rushing to the area.

There were no details on whether the man jumped, fell accidentally or exited the plane in another manner.
